Whitfield, Whitfeld , Wythfeld 1497AOMB , Whitefeld 1509, 1533MinAcct , Whitfield place 1638 InqM. 'White tract of open country', v. hwīt , feld . This was part of the same tract of land as that referred to in Whitfield Fm (4supra ) in the adjacent parish of Cromhall.
