Etymology

Manley Fm, Moneley (e )1315 Glouc, 1575TRMB , Monley 1575 ib.Probably 'common clearing', v. lēah . The first el. is either OE  māna 'community', related to (ge)mǣne 'common', or OE  manna , gen.pl. of mann 'man'; cf. also the surname Man in Man croft (237).
