Betworthy Fm, Betteworþe c. 1260 GlR, Betheworthe , Bedworthe , Betworthe 1575TRMB . 'Betta's enclosure', v. worð (the modern form being from worðig ). The pers.n. is either OE  Beta (or an unrecorded variant Betta ) or the fem. pers.n. Bettu ; cf. also the f.n. Beckley (infra ).
