Etymology

Cook's Hall is Cookes alias Netherhall (e )1445FF , 1472 IpmR, Nedirhall 1491FF , manor called Nether Halltenement called Cokes 1495 Ipm, Co (o )kes (hall )alias Beamonds 1542, 1615Ct , Coks grene 1555 ib., Cookys Netherhall 1562Recov . The hall is in the lowest part of the parish and is to be associated with the family of Adam Cook (1372FF ). Cooks Hill (local) is Netherhill 1545Ct . Morant (ii, 229) says it was called Beaumont (or Beamonds ) from ancient owners.
