Etymology

Chisbon Heath is Ches (t )ben (e )heth 1539 EAS (OS) v, t. Hy 8, 1540, 1545MinAcct , Chesburne heth , Chesmon heth t. Hy 8 ib., Chestbeameheth (e )1551 Pat, Chisman Heath 1777 C. Possibly from OE  cystbēam , 'chestnut-tree,' and hæþ , 'heath.' Cf. Chest Wood supra 318 and PN Sx 216. Like Chest Wood it is on the parish-boundary, adjacent to a one time detached piece of Weeley and it is possible that here also we have ME  cheste , 'strife.'
