Etymology

Lawn Hall is Old Lawn or Lawn-hall 1768 M, Launds Hall 1777 C. According to Morant (ii, 85) the manor was in Great Waltham with lands partly in High Easter and Dunmow, and Round has suggested (VCH i, 459) that it may be identical with Laghenberiam 1086 DB.
