Etymology

Epping Bury is Prestberi 1212 Fees, Pres (te )bur (y )t. Hy 3Waltham , 1291For , Ippyngbure 1486 HMC vii. 'Priests' manor,' v. burh . It belonged to Waltham Abbey. The manor was originally divided into two, viz. Epping -Bury and Epping Presbyter (M i, 47).
