Etymology

'Dæcca 's home,' v. ham . This personal name Dæcca does not occur independently in OE , but its existence is suggested by the name of Hugh filius Decche in Lincolnshire (12th). v. IPN 186.Cf. further Daccombe (PN D 512) and note the continental parallel of Daknam (E. Flanders), Dackenham (1156 Eng. Studies viii, 156). For the voicing of k to g cf. Bragenham (PN Bk 83).
