Etymology

White Lackington (SY 712982), White Lackington 1811 OS, White Lackington Fm, Wyghtlakynton 1354 Ipm (X 191), 'farmstead or estate associated with a man called Wihtlāc', from an OE  pers.n. Wihtlāc and -ingtūn , cf. the apparently identical White Lackington So (DEPN), and, for a somewhat similar metanalysis of the pers.n., White Lovington 1275. There is reference to Lackington Lower Tything in 1939 Kelly, cf. note on the 'tithings' under par. name supra .
