Etymology

v. Lytchett Matravers par. supra . 'Minster' is OE  mynster '(large) church', probably with reference to the church at Sturminster Marshall par. infra , of which Lytchett Minster was a chapelry (Hutch3 3365, DoNHAS 3867, Taylor 79), but cf. Church infra . 'South' in relation to Lytchett Matravers (v. sūð ), in contrast to which it was also called Lower Lichet , Nether Lichet 1774 Hutch1. For the affix Be (e )re , v. foll.
