Etymology

Probably, as indicated by the DB form in -hem -, 'farm of the Brōchǣme ' ('dwellers by the brook'), v. brōc , hǣme (gen.pl. hǣma ), tūn , cf. Witchampton par. supra ; on the possible presence of, or influence from, OE  hām-tūn in the forms, v. Tengstrand MN 97. For the DB identification, v. Eyton 111–2, Fägersten 93, DBGazetteer 117; VCHDo 3 87 identifies the DB form with Brockhampton in Buckland N. par. infra , a name which may be identical in origin with Brockington, cf. also Brockhampton Gl 1178. The farm lies beside R. Allen.
