Etymology

Cf. prec.; this manor was also assessed at five hides in DB (VCHDo 382). Richard and Herbert de Sancto Quintino (from one of the places called St Quentin in France, v. Tengvik 113) are mentioned in connection with this manor in 1205 Cur, cf. William de Sancto Quintino 1288Ass , Maud de Sancto Quintyno 1332 SR, John Seyntquyntyn of Fifhyde 1374 Pat, John Quynteyn 1416HarlCh ; the same family gave its name to Frome St Quintin par. infra , v.
