'Home farm by the brook', v. brōc , hām-tūn, or possibly, if this name is identical in origin with Brockington Fm 2280, 'farm of the dwellers by the brook', v. hǣme (gen.pl. hǣma ), tūn , with grēne 2 'grassy spot, village green'. The brook in question is a tributary of R. Lydden.
