Etymology

Originally the name of the stream here (now unnamed), an affluent of R. Yeo, v. tyrl 'that which turns or rolls along', cf. Ekwall RN 409, 418, PN Gl 113. There are six examples of this name in the SW besides this one, including an early name for Darknoll Brook, v. RNs. Cf. also Trylford 1563Digby .
