Etymology

Tibble's Copse, Tibble's Lane (ST 609113), (uno clausoiuxta ) Taddebolleslane 1411, 1454, Tedbolyslane 1414Sher , Toppole Brygge , via apud Typpyllesbrygge 1460, Tedpollane 1462Digby , Tibbles Coppice , Lt Tibbles 1839TA , tenementcalled Tibbles Water 1853EnclA . 'Bowl-shaped hollow frequented by toads', from tadde and bolla , with lane , brycg . The 1462 form probably shows influence from ME  taddepolle 'a tadpole' (c.1475 NED). A ford and footbridge are marked 6″.
