Etymology

Cf. Iton yeat close 1677Rental . This name preserves a trace of a lost farm or hamlet by the river Ive, called Iveton (v. tūn ). For the river-name v. supra 18.The field (v. feld ) must have been the open ground belonging to this settlement.
