Etymology

This name, as first noted by Lindkvist (41–2), is a compound of ON  einstapi , 'bracken' and hlíð, 'slope.' A similar loss of final th has taken place in Adgarley (PN La 210), which was originally 'Ēadgār 's hliþ.'
