Etymology
'Ecghere's wood or clearing', from the OE pers.n. Ecghere and lēah, cf. Egerton 33supra . As with the analogous pair Cholmondeley 21supra , Cholmondeston 3136, the same person may be involved. The O - forms are presumably scribal errors
