Etymology
Wickham, Wicham 821 (c. 1200) BCS 366 (a spurious charter), 1167 Pet freq with variant spellings Wickham , Wycham ; Wikeham 1550LRMB . v. Wickham Bushes 24. No actual Roman buildings appear to be on record here, but the 6″ map marks 'Roman Coins found' and 'Roman Pottery and Coins found' on either side of the Roman road, very close to Wickham, v. also Medieval Archaeology xi (1967), p. 89. Capell de Wykeham , Capell ' de Wickham and Wykehamhill are mentioned 1550LRMB .
