Etymology

, Tuttle Crike 1775Yarb and cf. Tuttyll haven 1609DuLaMB , v. crike , ON  kriki and hafn . It is tempting to take Tuttle as a common shortened form of Toothill , ' look-out hill ' , v. tōt-hyll , cf. Tottle Brook PN Nt 9 . Early forms are needed , of course , to confirm this suggestion . The site of the hill is not evident .
