Etymology

The first el. is Brit  glennos (Welsh  glyn ) 'glen'; for the second Welsh  rhedyn 'fern, bracken' is to be thought of; it has clearly been influenced in form by rydding 'clearing'. OWelsh  glinn redin 'bracken valley'.
