Battersby Fm, Badresbi 1086 DB, Bath (e )resby l. 12Sawl 2(p), 1355 YD v, Bathersby 1316 Vill (p), 1367 Kirkst, 1379 PT (p), Batersby 1285 KI, Battersbye 1607 FF. 'Bather's farmstead', from the ON  pers.n. Bǫðvarr (as in Beatrix 211infra 2½ miles west and Battersby YN 167). On the change of -th - to -t - cf. Catterton iv, 236supra .
