Etymology

Twizles Foot (lost), le Tuysells , le Tuyselfot Ed 1 Puds, le Twisles 1280–90 ib, le Langtwyseles 1300 ib, Twisles 1644 PRGis, Twizles Foot 1848TA . v. twisla 'the fork of a river'. Twizals Bridge (1771 M) shows that this is the confluence of Ings Beck and Swanside Beck.
