Hy 4Coventry , Gopilleford ib., Guppleford 1675 Poole.Cf. also Gopyleslone 13thLegerBk , Guphul lane 1423, Guppylle lane 1480 LeetBk, Guphill Lane 1581 ib. These places probably take their name from the family of Robert Gupill (1247Ass ) and Roger Gopyl (1317 AD iv, 1342 AD iii), the surname deriving from the OFr  goupil , 'fox.'
