Etymology
Inlands appears as Inlonde in 1199 (Cur) and 1272 (RH), Inlaunde in 1279 (Ass ), the plural form first appearing t. Jas 1 (ChancP). The term is presumably used in the technical sense of 'land cultivated for the use of the owner, not held by a tenant,' v. NEDs. v. inland .
