Etymology

'The clearing (v. leah) of the Gāringas .' These may have been men from Goring supra 168 who had a swine-pasture up at Goringlee or the name may be of independent origin and some other group of people belonging to one Gāra or living on a 'gore' (v. gara ) of land have made a settlement here.
