Etymology

Farnstreet (lost) is Farnstrete c. 1272Bay 51d, 1293 Cl, 1302 FA, Franstrete 1284 Ipm, Varnstrete 1401 FA, Farnestrete 1547CplM , Farntcham streete 1564DuLa . 'Bracken-road,' v. fearn , stræt . It was near Cop Hall where the parishes of Jevngton and Hailsham meet (L.F.S.).
