Etymology
The second element in this name is worþ, the first is an OE pers. name Nēðel , a regular diminutive formation from the common OE pers. name element nōð , used both as a first and as a second element. Cf. OGer Nandilo , a parallel formation (Förstemann PN 1149). There was also a Nedleshurst in Heathfield (1378Ct ).
