Etymology

Poppets (6″), earlier Poukeput 1350 Cl, Pokeputte 1386Ct .'Goblin pit or hollow,' v. puca , pytt . In 1405 (Ct ) we have mention of two fields here, 'My lordespokeputt ' and 'Townmannespokeputte .'
