Etymology

Maidlands (6″) is Meydlond 1501Rental , Maydenlands 1527Ct , and gave name to Thomas de Maydenlonde (1326Ct ) or Maidelonde (1327 SR). The first element is probably the common word 'maid' but the reason for the name is unknown.
