Etymology

'*Stunt 's field,' v. feld . Stunt (a ) would be a nickname from OE  stunt , 'foolish.' The personal name occurs in a number of minor names in the parish, v. Stonesfield Ford infra . The weak name *Stunta may be the first element of Stuntney (PN Ca 220–1).
