Etymology

Beard Mill is Berdemulne early 13thBodl , Burdemulne 1278–9 RH (p), Berdedmille 1375Bodl (p). Cf. Beardirull Stream 1712FF . The first element may be a mutated form of OE  bord , such as occurs in ON  byrði . The meaning would then be 'mill made of boards,' v. myln .
