Etymology

Cranmoor Plantation (6″). Cf. Cranemeresterte t. Hy 2St John .'Strip of land by a pool frequented by cranes or herons,' v. cran (under corn ), mere , steort . The last word means 'tail,' which is obviously applicable to the shape of the present plantation.
