'Authulf's burh' from the ON  pers. n. Auðulfr . Roman remains have been found here as at Brough Hill infra . On ON  au becoming a cf. Laskill 72supra , Marsett 264infra and Scratby (Nf), at Scroutebi BCS 1017.
