Etymology

The numerous forms in Bar - indicate that this is OE  bær-tūn 'a barley farm, corn farm' in the developed sense 'the outlying grange'.The 971 AS charter for Barrow supra , the bounds of which include Barton as well as Barrow, suggests that Barton was an outlying grange of Barrow.
