Etymology

Trendlecombe (lost, about SY 835841), Trendlecombe 1635Weld 1, 1686ib , 1861 Hutch3, Trendlecomb 1641ib , 1774 Hutch1, Trendelcomb 1463Weld 1, 1705ib , Trendellcombe 1638ib , possibly 'circular valley', v. trendel, cumb, although in view of the nearby Trendyley 1446Rent , Trenley 1839TA , Trendlecombe could be 'valley near Trendyley ' ('circular clearing'), v. lēah , cf. Trenley Gl 2220; Hutch3 1348 describes Trendlecombe as 'now joined with Oakley' (q. v. supra ) and as 'lying half a mile W of Combe' (i.e. Coombe K. supra ).
