Etymology
Arne was until the last century a chapelry of Wareham Holy T. parish (Hutch3 198–9). Since 1894 Arne has included the whole of the former out-parish of Wareham Holy T. (Middlebere, Redcliff, Stoborough, etc) and part of Wareham Lady St M. (Worgret, etc) (Kelly, cf. Wareham par. infra ).Middlebere was formerly included in the manor of Langton Wallis (Hutch3 1634, v. note under Langton Mat. par. supra ). Worgret was included in Barrow hundred in 1288Ass , 1332 SR, 1664 HTax, 1795 Boswell.
