Etymology
This is 'Winebald's part of Trafford', cf. Bridge Trafford, Mickle Trafford 261, 326infra . The manorial affix is the gen.sg. of a pers.n., the rarely recorded OE Winebald , or the better evidenced OE Wynbald , or OG Winebald which would be the name of Wynebaud the sheriff mentioned 1121– c.1150 Chest after whom DEPN suggests this place was named.
