Etymology

Thornton Mill (109–439757), Thornton Mill 1831 Bry, (terra de la Holm iuxta ) molendina de Ynes 1265–91 Chest, molendinum aquaticum super Inesmerssh , molendinum aquaticum in Inssemersh , in tristera inter forestam de Wirhale et forestam de la Mare 1357ChFor , molendinum aquaticum de Ince , le milnehous 1440Rental , v. myln , hūs , cf. Ince, Holme Ho 251, 251supra . The tristera (v. trystor ) appears to have been a hunting station common to both the forests.
