Etymology
( 2 ½ ″ ) , Straw Hall 1925Kelly ; cf. Straw Hall, Nt 55 ; evidently a term of contempt , perh . a derogatory name for land which produced straw rather than ear in the corn . The jubilee commemorated in the alternative name of the farm was either the Golden ( 1887 ) or the Diamond Jubilee ( 1897 ) of Queen Victoria .
