Etymology

This is a tumulus and it is clear therefore that though there has been variation between hlāw and lēah in the second element the former is the correct form . The first element is apparently the gen . sg . of hafoc ' hawk ' , or an unrecorded OE  pers.n. *Hafoc as in Hawksworth WRY .
