Etymology

Ekwall (DEPN) is probably correct in his interpretation 'dairy- farm on the R. Pever ', v. wīc . He assumes that this is the old name of the now unnamed stream which flows through the village. It is identical with Peover Ch and Perry Sa. The river-name is derived from Brit  *Pebro - (Jackson 281) and this word appears in W  as pefr 'bright, radiant', v. also RN 322–3. Forms in -z and -s are AN  spellings for -ch .
