is so named in 1789 (Clarke) . “ Near Whitbarrow fields are vestiges of an encampment by some called Redstone Camp , by Cambden , Stone Carron ; the ground adjacent is to this day called Stone Carr ” ( H i , 412 ) . This is presumably carn , ' cairn . '
