Etymology

to the north in the same parish , with springs close at hand , doubtless a compound of kelda and mōr . The note referred to above under Feather Knott mentions a place - name relating to this district which is hard to decipher , but apparently reads Becynkeld heid . It may be a compound of OE  (a )cn , ' beacon , ' kelda and hēafod .
