Dean Brook

Early-attested site in the Parish of Himbleton

Historical Forms

  • Denebrigge 1275 Ass
  • pontem de la Dene 13th Pat 18th

Etymology

The reference is to a bridge over the present Dean Brook, v. denu . It should be noted that the brook itself certainly does not form a 'dene' if we think of any deep-cut or well-marked valley.
