Etymology

From Lapworth (W), Hlappawurð in BCS 356 and from Lapley (St), DBLepelie , we are probably right in assuming an OE  pers. name Hlæppa or Hlappa and the whole name may be interpreted as Hlæppan -hol , 'Hlappa's hollow.' The place lies in a hollow. v. hol(h). This place has been confused with La Pulle , i.e. Pull Court supra 105.
