Rabeston 1588, Rabson 1719Recov , Rapson 1773 A and D.According to Jones (242) this is the DB manor held by the Abbess of Amesbury. Abbedeston would seem to stand for earlier Abbedesseton and the forms with initial r must be explained as coming from ME at ther Abbedeston , 'at the Abbessfarm or manor.' For the forms cf.
