Etymology

Yarnbrook is Yondebrok 1367FF , Yondbroke 1599 ib., Yanbrook 1802Map . '(Place) beyond the brook,' from OE  begeondan brōce . Cf. Yonderlake (PN D 383). Names of this type are very common in Devon (PN D Pt. 1, xxxvii). Some other examples are found in Wiltshire in early documents but they seldom survive on the modern map. We may note Binorthe the cumbe (1276 StNicholas) in Broad Chalke, Bovetheclyve (1360Winch Coll ) in Durrington, Nethenebrugge (1279Ass ) in Wilton, Bovethethornes (1310 Ipm) in Yatesbury. We have possible survivals in Easton Town supra 111 and Norney infra 244.
