Etymology

Seend Head, Seend Park and Seend Row are Sendheved 1227 FF, Shendeheved 1249 ib.,Sendenheved 1281Ass , Synd (e )hede 1443, 1444 Pat, Sendhede 1503 Ipm, Seenehead 1597FF , park of Sende 1421 Pat, Sendenerewe , Senderowe 1268Ass , 1279, 1289 ib., Shende Rew 1546SR . The heafod or 'head' clearly has reference to the well-marked projection at the south-west end of the hill on which Seend lies, the ræw or 'row' is the name of the straggling hamlet which lies along the western end of the ridge.
