Cow Bridge (6″) is Colebrigge c. 1300Stowe 798, Culbrige 1503MinAcct , Cowlebridge 1518 WM xxxvi, Coolebridge 1574 ib. xxxviii. The forms are too uncertain for any interpretation, but it is clear that the present form is due to folk-etymology, helped perhaps by its being opposed to a lost Bulbrigge (1438MinAcct ).
